Halloysite@polydopamine/ZIF-8 Nanocomposites for Efficient Removal of Heavy Metal Ions

In this study, polymeric nanocomposites of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) were synthesized by assembly a biomimetic polymer-polydopamine (PDA)onto halloysite nanotubes (HNTs@PDA), followed the in situ growth framework-8 (ZIF-8) on surface HNTs@PDA. The obtained (HNTs@PDA/ZIF-8) prevented agglomeration ZIFs and increased number active sites derived from PDA. factors influencing heavy metal ions (Pb2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Ni2+) adsorption HNTs@PDA/ZIF-8 discussed. Langmuir model was able to well describe adsorption, maximum capacity calculated be 285.00 mg/g for 515.00 Pb2+, 185 Cd2+ 112.5 Ni2+. Thermodynamic parameters confirmed that exothermic spontaneous. Moreover, has good regenerability, which is very important practical applications. mechanism study showed electrostatic attraction, coordination reactions ion-exchange main mechanisms between adsorbents ions.
